I was in the advanced sessions of my medical transcription course when I noticed a post on our school forum about the Stedman’s Medical Terms and Phrases reference book, or as we call it the “Big Purple Book.” I decided to order it immediately, and I must say it is the best money I have spent so far on a reference book. Medical Terms and Phrases is the only reference book that is open on my desk 24/7. I used it every single day during the advanced dictation sessions of the course, and I continue to use it daily now that I am working full time. One of the best features of the book is when I only hear one word or part of a phrase I can go to that word and find all listings related to that word or phrase. With a little detective work and re-listening to the dictation, I can easily find the entry I need to complete the phrase. Medical Terms and Phrases is an invaluable asset to me and I would recommend every student and new MT purchase this wonderful resource. While I occasionally use my other reference material, this book is the one I could not live without. Thank you Stedman’s for making my life easier!
